Description

The icon of the Scoroposuchna was written in the 10th century. It was placed on a wall in the monastery’s dining hall. Its revelation dates back to 1664.At that time, a monk named Nil, who was performing the duties of a cook, walking at night with a lit archer, heard a voice coming near the icon. It relayed that the monk should not walk near the icon with the archer and not to kick the holy image. Nile, however, paying no attention to these words, continued to do so. After a while the situation repeated itself, but this time a voice coming from the icon threateningly stated that the monk doing so was not worthy of being a monk. Immediately, too, Nile was punished with blindness. After others found this monk, they began to pray to the Mother of God. The punished Nile decided not to leave the icon and prayed asking the Mother of God for forgiveness and healing. The merciful Mother of God heard the monk and forgave his sins and healed him. Then she also added “ From now on, you will call this icon Quickly Hearing, because I will show love to those who come to me and fulfill their requests.”

Miracles began to happen at the icon; the blind regained their sight, the lame began to walk, sea disasters were averted….
