Description

The apparition of the icon of Our Lady of the Unbidden Chalice took place in 1878.

The retired soldier was an alcoholic. Despite the fact that he had drunk all his possessions and become a beggar and was losing the power in his legs, he still did not give up his addiction. On one occasion, he had a vision three times. An old man appeared to him and instructed him to go to the monastery and have a prayer service in front of the icon of Our Lady of the Cup and his soul and body would recover. After the prayer, the peasant returned home completely healthy.

People whose lives had been taken over by alcohol began to travel to this icon. Many of them, praying with faith and hope in front of the icon of the Mother of God, experienced a miracle of recovery.

The icon also became the patroness of the first sobriety associations to be founded in the country.

People with problems of alcohol addiction turn to this image of the Mother of God with their prayers.
