Description

St Nicholas was an only child asked out by his parents. From an early age he tried to do something good. He was ordained as a clergyman. After the death of his parents, St Nicholas distributed all his possessions to the poor. Later, he was ordained Bishop of Myra of Lycia. He was constantly concerned for the welfare of his faithful. He also suffered much sorrow and suffering for his faith. After Nicholas died, his body began to secrete healing myrrh. He was buried in Mira Licia and later moved to Bari, where he is still found today.

The faithful pray to him for a variety of illnesses, including eye diseases, when travelling by land and sea, as well as being in dire financial straits or having family problems. He is considered the patron saint of widows and orphans, as well as taking care of families.
