Greek coffee, or ellinikos kafeus in Greek, is the Greek people’s favourite drink!
Greeks drink it very often, at breakfast, after breakfast, before lunch, after lunch and dinner! Simply put, drinking coffee is their favourite thing to do! Greek coffee is usually drunk in small cups and enjoyed for a long time.
It is said that a girl who knows how to brew a traditional one well is good wife material.
Below is a recipe for aromatic Greek coffee:
- To brew the coffee you will need a pot/ small pot.
- Measure water into the pot with a cup, add two teaspoons of Greek coffee finely ground.
- Add two teaspoons of sugar or as desired.
- Boil until the coffee starts to rise. Remove from the heat for a moment, then repeat the process a couple of times.
- Pour the finished coffee into a cup.
- Greek coffee can be served with, for example, figs in syrup, baklava or lukumi .In Greece, it is served with a glass of water.
